Kowint Energy KS-233A Passes UL9540A Safety Test for North America
Kowint Energy is proud to announce that its flagship KS-233A Liquid-Cooling Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has successfully passed the UL9540A test, the industry's most rigorous evaluation for thermal runaway and fire safety in energy storage systems.
This certification confirms that the KS-233A meets North American ESS safety standards, ensuring superior protection, reliability, and compliance for commercial, industrial, and microgrid applications.
Validated for Thermal Runaway and Fire Containment
The UL9540A test is designed to assess a system's ability to prevent and mitigate thermal propagation events at the cell, module, and system level. By passing this test, the KS-233A demonstrates its advanced engineering in fire prevention and thermal management — key pillars for safe, long-term ESS operation.
The KS-233A system integrates multiple layers of protection, including:
- High-stability LFP (LiFePO₄) battery cells
- Precision liquid-cooling thermal control system
- Aerosol-based fire suppression
- BMS for predictive monitoring and fault isolation
These features work in synergy to prevent escalation during abnormal conditions, ensuring reliable performance and user safety.
Meeting North Americn ESS Safety Standards
The successful UL9540A test complements the KS-233A's portfolio of North American certifications, including UL9540, UL1973, IEEE 1547, CSA C22.2, and CEC listing. This positions the KS-233A among the most safety-validated liquid-cooled energy storage systems available in the U.S. market.

Its scalable system architecture enables flexible expansion across commercial facilities, industrial parks, EV charging hubs, and microgrid applications.
A Milestone in Energy Storage Safety and Reliability
"Passing the UL9540A safety certification marks an important step in Kowint Energy's mission to deliver high-performance and secure energy storage solutions for North America," said Kowint Energy's Product Management Team.
"The KS-233A's successful validation reinforces our dedication to safety-first design and technological innovation in the ESS industry."
This test not only ensures compliance but also provides peace of mind for project developers, EPC partners, and end-users deploying Kowint Energy's products in commercial, industrial, and microgrid projects.
